Petechiae -- Tiny red spots in the skin which do not blanch when pressed upon.  Petechiae result from red blood leaking from capillaries into the skin (intradermal hemorrhages).  Petechiae are less than 3 millimeters in diameter.  Petechiae are not infrequently seen in the legs of patients taking aspirin because its mild blood-thinning effect.
